It was the beginning of September. In just a couple of days I would be leaving to live in London, England. Just the thought of it brought many emotions to me. I knew I would miss my family, but it felt so right to get away from this sleepy old town that I have lived in ever since I was little. The night before, I had packed all the things I needed; clothes, shoes, journal, stuff like that. The rest of my belongings would be shipped to me. My parents and sister dropped me off at the airport and we said our goodbyes. I promised I would Skype with my mom and sis as much as I could and I would call them everyday. I waited to say bye to my mom last. I gave her a long hug and she kissed my forehead, told me “good luck and I love you”. As I walked to board the plane I could feel tears filling my eyes. I took a deep breath, held my tears back as much as I could, and turned around to wave one last goodbye. I found my seat on the plane, thank goodness it was by the window. I sat down, put my headphones on, and listened to my “traveling playlist” till I fell asleep.
Pilot: “Good evening passengers, we will be landing in our destination in about 20 minutes, we hope you all had a wonderful flight.” I was waken by the air pilot talking through the intercom. I prepped myself, took off my earphones, just incase the pilot made another announcement, and looked out the window for the rest of the flight. Aside from getting accustomed to everything, all I could worry about was what my roommate would be like. Of course it wouldn’t be some wacko, I mean it’s a student just like me. They didn’t specifically tell me if it was a boy or a girl either. Well, I didn’t ask because I wanted to be surprised. I’m a little odd like that. All I knew is that they would be waiting for me at the airport when I got off the plane.
The plane finally landed and I waited in the luggage area to retrieve my belongings. Once I had all my things, I looked around to find my new roommate, which was dumb of me because I didn’t even know who the fool was! I decided to keep looking anyway. I found a person holding up a sign with my name on it. ‘haha this is just like a movie! I feel so important!’ I thought to myself. My eyes shifted away from the sign, and slowly moved up to the holder of it. A green eyed, curly haired boy. He was slender yet still built. He was wearing khaki colored pants that rested nicely on his waist down, with a lovely blue colored sweater that complimented his electric green eyes so well. I froze dead in my tracks. Like a deer caught in headlights. “that’s, that’s my roommate?” I said to myself. I stood there like a complete idiot until I snapped out of my daze. “come on Em, get it together!” I started to give myself a little pep talk. “He’s not all that. Okay maybe a little. Nevermind that though! Now you’re going to walk over there calmly, collectively, oh, and please try not to trip.” I looked away before he could notice I was staring at him. Subtly, I fixed my hair and clothes, and walked towards him. I could feel my hand shaking as I pulled my luggage. I noticed he was glancing at me couple of times while I was walking. “Hi” I said quietly as I approached him. “Uhm I’m Emma.” He looked at me, then looked at the sign, then at me again. “What? Oh! You’re Emma! I’m sorry, I’m Harry, Harry Styles.” He said while giving me his hand to shake. “So, you’re my new roommate I’m guessing?” I said. “Yes! Yes I am, I am your new roommate. Ta-dah!” He chuckled a little and I couldn’t help but laugh along. He helped me with my luggage and we walked to his car. He asked how my flight was and we talked endlessly from there. ‘so far so good’ I thought to myself.
